Dictionary: Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, 7th edition, the official Bee dictionary, is the source for spelling and pronunciation. Spelling includes the correct placement of any additional characters such as hyphens, accent marks, or apostrophes.
1.    Each team will consist of 2 members.
2.    The Pronouncer will –
(a) pronounce the word and (b) give the definition of the word, use it in a sentence, and pronounce the word once more (at the spellers request). Participants may ask the Pronouncer to pronounce the word one additional time, but no more.
3.    Team members may collaborate on the spelling of the word. Each team will have 30 seconds to spell the word by writing it on the board distributed to each team at the beginning of the Spelling Bee. Following one warning, any team that does not hold up the board when the judges call for it will be eliminated.
4.    Upon missing the spelling of two words, a team is eliminated.
5.    The Pronouncer will give words until all but two teams are eliminated. After all but two teams have been eliminated, the final two teams shall compete to determine the winner of the Bee. The winner will be declared after one of the two teams spells a word incorrectly.
6.    During the final rounds of the competition, the judges may choose to allow participants the option of writing the word down on paper before being required to spell it orally.
7.    If more than one spelling is listed for a word, any of these spellings will be accepted as correct if the word either matches the pronunciation and definition provided by the Pronouncer or if it is clearly identified as being a standard variant of the word that the speller has been asked to spell.
8.    The judges will make the final decision on all questions, including disputes concerning pronunciation. There will be no appeals.
